Purlins

Purlins are used in building construction, primarily for industrial purposes.
The rollformed structural beams are made in a wide range of shapes and sizes using materials with different thicknesses and different arrangements of punched holes. The profile widths varies from 100 to 700 mm, the heights from 50 to 150 mm, the thicknesses from 1 to 5 mm. The principal groups of sections are C-profiles, U-profiles, Z-profiles and Sigma or Sigma profiles, with the "plus" version. Basic traditional lines can be used, where the forming rolls must be changed when production changes.

Flexible automatic lines are available if required. Stam developed a Rollforming line allowing to change production in few minutes, in a full automatic way. This rollformer is designed in such a way that it is possible to change all the profile dimensions (thickness included), without changing the rolls. Also, the punching can be controlled by the CAM integrated system, so both diameter and position of the holes can be set. The lines for purlins can be integrated with an automatic stacking and packing machine.

Tile pattern roof panels

STAM was the first manufacturer in the world to realize rollforming lines for production of imitation tile pattern roof panels, and is world leader in this field in terms of productivity and quality of the final product.
The STAM rollformers are able to produce at a constant speed of approximately 10 m/min. Step forming as well as cutting-to-length is by means of an NC flying shear system which ensures high accuracy and speed. The sheet metal can be plain or pre-painted steel, copper or other metals.
At the end of the line a manual or an automatic stacking system can be provided.

Trapezoidal profiles

Rollforming lines for trapezoidal sheets are a benchmark for flexible and highly productive plants, and for the quality of the finished product.
During the last years the permitted tolerances for these products have been severely restricted. Thanks to the precise and gradual molding process taking into account the material properties and change of strip thickness are STAM Rollforming lines suitable to provide a very high quality product.
The production differentiate into start-stop systems for small or medium production volumes or flying shears to 100 m/min for very high throughput with stacking and packaging systems.
For a quick change of profiling tools Stam offers adjustable cassette systems.

Sandwich panels

These panels are made up of two sheet metal profiles between which insulating material is inserted or injected, typically PU (PUR/PIR) or rock wool / mineral wool. STAM supply lines with a high level of automation to produce panels for doors, roofs, walls and refrigerator enclosures.
The sandwich panels lines can work with two alternative methods:
  • Continuous: with fully automatic lines, starting from raw materials. This method is suitable for high production rate.
  • Discontinuous: the sheet metal profiles are produced separately and are then placed on top of one another with the insulating material in between; the two sheet metal panels are then joined together in a press. This method is suitable for low production rate.

Downpipes and gutters

Downpipes for rainwater drainage systems can have either a square or a circular cross section. Metallic materials used for downpipes, gutters and their accessories are Pre-painted or galvanized steel, Stainless steel, Aluminum and aluminum alloys, Copper, Zinc.
STAM manufactures downpipe and gutter rollforming machines for square and circular section seamed downpipes of all sizes and sheet metal materials, operating in stop-start mode or using a flying shear for cut-to-length by a hydraulic cutting tool. At one end of the downpipe a dedicate tool forms the connect shape for other accessories of the rainwater drainage system.
STAM developed a very versatile system for this application. It consists of a double rollformer on which tooling for two different types of profile are permanently set up, so that lost times for changeovers are eliminated. The tooling can be for downpipes of different sizes or for guttering and downpipes.
